Pumpkin Cupcakes

Ladybug had her fall party at preschool on this week, and I was signed up to bring the cupcakes.  Remember these apple cupcakes that I made last month?
Well I made these "pumpkin" cupcakes the same way I made those apple cupcakes.

Some I just topped with sprinkles and cupcake toppers from my etsy shop.

The I needed to find a way to transport these without smooshing down all that cuteness.  This led me to finally find a good use for my roasting pan.  (I don't think I've ever actually used it in the oven.)

It was the perfect height for protecting the cupcakes.

I prettied up the pan with ribbon around the edge,

and wrapped ribbon around the handles.

It worked out perfectly.

I had one happy cowgirl!

Have a fun and safe weekend!

Apple Pie Pops

My little ladybug and I made some yummy apple pie pops.
Nothing groundbreaking, just a fun fall treat.

Start with a leaf cookie cutter, pie crust, apple pie filling, an egg, sugar in the raw, and lollipop sticks.

Cut leaf shapes from the pie crust and stuck a lollipop stick in the bottom.
(something like Popsicle sticks might work better to support the weight the the pie pop.
It all depends on the size of your cookie cutter.)

Add a small amount of apple pie filling to the center (not too much or the filling will leak out the edges).

Brush a small amount of egg whites around the edges and cover the top with another pie leaf.
Gently press the edges together.

Brush a small amount of egg whites over the top and sprinkle the sugar on.

Baked as directed on the pie crust box, and end up with a fun little after dinner dessert.

Pumpkins or Cookies?

About a month ago I saw apple pops somewhere.  I knew then that I had to try making pumpkins. I did a practice round just to see how they would turn out.  I plan to make a big batch for Halloween.

So here are the ingredients I gathered up...

I know candy melts would work better, but with a munchkin with food allergies I have to be careful about what I use.
I opened the Oreo to put the sucker stick inside.  I put a dab of melted chocolate on top to "reseal" the oreo and hold the stick inside.  I stuck it in the fridge for a bit.

I used food coloring to turn the white chocolate orange.  I molded green tootsie rolls for the stems.
Not too bad for the first round.
These are dangerous to have in my house.  My secret addiction is Oreos.  I LOVE Oreos.

Fall Fairy Wands...yum!

We made these last Fall, and they were so easy and fun that we did it again.  Just a simple way to make an ordinary fall day a little magical.

Gather up wax paper, chocolate for melting, fall-ish sprinkles, pretzel rods,
and at least one eager little preschooler.

After melting chocolate, dip or spoon onto top 3/4 of pretzel rod.
Lay on wax paper.
Add sprinkles (the fun part) to your liking.

Chill in fridge.  And ta-da!  You have a delicious fall treat.  Fall Fairy wands!  Little guys would probably rather call them "magic wands".  Whatever you call them, enjoy.

Marshmallow Delight

For Christmas a few years ago my cousin gave all of us ladies a framed copy of one of my Grandma's recipes.  It's special because it is in Grandma's own handwriting.  I love it.  "Marshmallow Delight" has been hanging in my kitchen since it was given to me.

I've been wanting to add to it.
I took some scrapbook paper, embellishments, and a larger frame and got to it.
Here is the final product:

My Grandma made this marshmallow dish every holiday.  Honestly, I never really ate it back then.  Not because I didn't like it, because it's really, really good.  I guess there were just too many other options at holiday meals.  Now I always have a serving when my mom makes it on holidays.

In this layout I also included two other family recipes.
My Great-Grandmother used to make yummy peanut butter balls every Christmas.

Yes, my Grandpa threw some ingredients together and called it "slop."
I assure you it is actually good despite the name.

I do like the end result.  It has sentimental value.  Now to hang it over my stove...

Apple cupcakes for back to school

Don't these look so cute?
When I saw these in Family Fun magazine I knew I had to make them before preschool started!

Their cupcakes look so pretty, don't they?

Today Ladybug and I made a batch of our own...
I think they turned out pretty gosh darn cute.  If I had red cupcake liners they would have looked even better.  All that really matters is that Ladybug loved them.  They were quite yummy.

The stems and leaves are molded out of tootsie rolls!  I had no idea you could mold them so easily!

Yum!  It was a fun way to celebrate the start of the school year.

Wouldn't it be fun to do a link up with cupcake ideas?

Hopping here...
