Setting a Leprechaun Trap

Every year we have grand plans for catching a little Leprechaun. This year is no different.

Here's how we made our trap this year :)

We used an empty large yogurt container and cut a hole in the lid.

We covered the hole with green tissue paper so the Leprechaun falls through when he stands on it.

We decorated the container to make it look less suspicious ;)

We know Leprechauns can not resist gold, so that's what we are using to lure him into our trap...of course.

He needs a ladder to get up there.
They are tiny, after all.

In the morning we will hopefully have caught one.

Starting St. Patrick's Day off with a bowl of Lucky Charms is kind of a tradition.

Maybe if we aren't lucky enough to find a leprechaun in our trap, we will at least find a couple little pots of chocolate gold.

We wish you a day filled with good luck, too.

St. Patrick's Day Ideas

St. Patrick's Day doesn't usually get a lot of attention around here, but we do have a few fun things we've done. ( I'm not sure where I found these first couple of ideas from last year.)

Last year we made this cute pot of gold. We took a pot and painted it black, added some green Easter grass, and tucked in some pipe cleaners for the rainbow.
We were trying to trick a leprechaun, of course, into believing it was a real rainbow and pot so he would leave his gold behind.  Look at all that gold he left!

That's not all he left behind in the morning!
Check out the leprechaun footprints.
{I used sugar crystals for cookies, but you could also use green glitter}

The ladybug made a leprechaun from a toliet paper roll.
It's made with paint, construction paper hat brim and arms, and orange ribbon for the beard.

mmm...Lucky Charms.  My favorite childhood cereal.
It's become our traditional St. Patrick's Day breakfast.  After seeing THIS idea at eighteen25, I think I want to do it too!

Then after dinner we had a yummy rainbow cake dessert.
You can find it HERE, at Family Fun.
This year I think I'll make some easy yellow jello {pot of gold} found HERE

I made this shamrock dessert topper like others I have made.
It might top our pot of gold dessert.

I have one more St. Patrick's Day treat/favor to share with you in
a future post, so be sure to check back for it!

"Lucky to have you" picture

Improved.  Now I like it better.

I love using paper to make seasonal decor for frames, because when the holiday has passed I can use it in our scrapbook.

I cut the letters with my cricut and glued it all to a piece of card stock.  You could do the same thing with alphabet stickers.

Feeling Lucky?

Today I started a little piece of St. Patrick's day decor.  I say "started" because I'm going to add something to it, and I'll post it when I finish up tomorrow.
I change out this frame for each holiday/season.  As much as I loved my Valentine heart...the frame was just itchin' for something green
I cut the letters with my cricut and glued it all to a piece of card stock.   It adds a touch of green in our entryway.
On another note...
I'm almost done with the pantry redo and almost done working on the new tins for my shop!  Woo-hoo!
Don't you just LOVE checking things off your list?!
