Old Maid

We play a lot of Old Maid and Go Fish around our house.  The ladybug always had such a hard time trying to hold all those cards in her tiny hands.  She always ended up spreading her cards across the table to see all of them.  This was our solution to that pesky problem:

Sometime last year I found this really cool idea in a magazine.
You just cut large slots across the bottom "cups" of an egg carton.  It works for us!
It works great if your using tiny Princess Old Maid cards,

or big Cars version Go Fish cards.

The Ladybug is a well balanced girl...
she loves all things frilly and girly, but still loves cars and lizards!

Valentine Mini Banners

These are some fun little mini Valentine banners just added to my shop.
Yes, I know Valentines Day is over a month away, but I wanted them done early.
You never know what kind of chaos can throw off the best made plans!

Mickey birthday invitations

Hot Dog!    Hot Dog!     Hot Digity Dog!

My little guy is turning two in few weeks!  Sometimes I can not believe how fast time goes by.  I usually do themes for their parties to make it a little more exciting for them.  He likes Mickey Mouse these days so it seemed appropriate to do a Mickey theme.  I wanted to make some fun invitations to match, so I got to it last night when the kids went to bed.  Here is what I came up with...

{Find the tutorial HERE}

I looked online for an outline of Mickey's head and used that for the template.
The Mickey head with all the info slides into the the red bottom.

They're all ready to be mailed.  Next project for his party will be making cupcake toppers.
I'll share those when they're done, too.   More to come!

Gingerbread House Cards

I'm in love with these cards!  I think they are the cutest!
The ladybug fell in love with making them.
I found this idea in Family Fun magazine.
You can find the template for the card HERE
We used adhesive trim for the "white icing" on the house, glitter card stock for the doors and candy dots.
First I used a hole punch for the dots, but ladybug got so frustrated trying to work with such tiny dots.  I cut out bigger ones for the rest.  Then she didn't want to stop making them!
They're all ready for her sweet little drawings inside!
She is going to love giving these out.

Snowman Lanterns

We are getting more snow!  As long as it sticks around for Christmas it's fine by me!
So today is a perfect day for a snowman post.
Remember those pumpkin jar lanterns that were all over blog land over the last year?

and mine

Well, why not snowmen?!  Put a little glitter mod podge over the white tissue paper and they sparkle like the snow.

Have a happy Sunday!

Our Christmas Tree

I love real Christmas trees.  They smell good, and picking out a tree makes for fun memories.  One year our tree stand leaked and completely warped the wood floor.  The next year the tree dried out within 2 weeks.
Since then we've gone the fake route.  Real ones just do not cooperate with us!

Someday I'd love to have a tree in golds and reds.  All shiny and pretty!  Now we have a hodge podge of sentimental ornaments. I like it that way too.

Some ornaments are priceless to me.

These were my Grandma's and love them!

The hubs has a few sentimental ornaments from his childhood.

Hubs gets a lot of policeman ornaments.
I wonder why.... : )

Every year my kids get their own ornaments to add to the tree.  When they're grown they'll have their own box of ornaments to take when they leave home many, many years from now.
George is HUGE in our house.  Ladybug and little guy adore that monkey!

Ever since I was little I have been collecting these little houses from Hallmark.
They're so cute!  They're like mini doll houses.  How could I resist?

Our stockings are hung on our railing since we don't have a fireplace.
I love these sweater stockings.  They were only $10 at Target!
Not too bad since most other cute stockings I found were double the price.

If the ladybug and little guy had it their way, all these little lights would be on all day long.
The excitement in their eyes when the tree lights up is priceless!  I Love it!
