Pumpkin Carving

A couple weekends ago we had family over for pumpkin carving fun.

While carving we had caramel apple cider and donuts.

There was pumpkin painting for the little ones.

The winning pumpkin...
The winning carvers with their golden pumpkin trophy.

Our pumpkin was a fairy house pumpkin.

Inspired by Martha Stewarts adorable Halloween village.
I think I'd love to carve a table full of these!

Have you seen this one yet?
Love it!

Halloween Costumes

The ladybug and little guy are ready for trick-or-treating.
After seeing the new Smurf movie, the ladybug had her heart set on being smurfette for Halloween.
Being two, the little guy doesn't really care what he wears so he's a smurf too.  Last weekend they tried out their costumes trick-or-treating at a local safety town.

2011
My mom made these smurf costumes for them.  (Thanks mom!!!)

Today I thought I'd share some costumes from the past, too.

A new Thanksgiving dinner tradition (book of thanks)

I am so excited about starting this book of thanks this year!
This awesome idea originally came from eighteen25.

Every year on Thanksgiving, we will take a group picture with those we are celebrating Thanksgiving dinner.  We will each write what we are thankful for on the same page.  I love that this will become a precious family keepsake.

I made this book using my binding machine.
It's filled with 30 cardstock pages, enough to last 30 years.

The front page is filled with sentiments of gratitude found courtesy of Pinterest.

Last year we started a gratitude countdown that worked so well for us we will still do it this year.

We did this one each day of November during dinner.  The ladybug really loved doing this.  You can find more about this HERE.  It surprised me that she got more excited over this than the October candy countdown!  It was a pleasant surprise!

I love finding new holiday traditions.  If you have any you'd like to share, comment below, or come link it up at the Craft Catwalk.

An Old Window

So we have this huge empty 9 foot wall behind the toilet in our bathroom.  It drove me nuts.  It was screaming for something to fill the space.  The space is so tall that I wanted something big.

I wanted an old window.  My parents found one for me on one of their trips.  (YAY!)

It's simple.  I love it.
I'll decorate it for each holiday.  I think we'll add some hooks to the bottom as well.

Here's some more old window eye candy...

A Chalkboard (& a cute halloween printable)

Yay! This girl finally made her own chalkboard!

This large frame I once used to display the little ones art.
It's nothing special...just a plain old chalkboard, but I love it anyway :-)

See that silly little pumpkin joke I wrote on the chalkboard?

Well...on pinterest I found these cute printable Halloween jokes for the kiddos from All for the Boys

They were making me giggle.  The hubs just {lovingly} rolled his eyes me. I still think they're cute!
I hope you get a kick out of them too!
I'm planning to print them out for the ladybugs Halloween party.

Monster Spools (Halloween Craft)

I'm loving these not-so-spooky monster spools.
After seeing these on pinterest I couldn't wait to make them with the ladybug.

We just wrapped ribbon around the spools, and used google eyes and paper to make the faces.

The ladybug pretends they're trick-or-treating at her fairy house ;-)
