Summer Bucket List

Just finished our summer bucket list!

I saw variations of these all of the blogosphere last year, and I thought it was such a brilliant idea.  The summer tends to fly by, leaving all the best laid plans behind it.  At the end of the summer I always found myself thinking of all the things we should have done, but didn't think of at the time.  After seeing so many of these cute lists last year I made one too and it definitely helped us focus on the fun summer stuff we really wanted to do.  Even though we didn't get everything checked off our list, we still did a lot more than we would have done with out it.  It was a project success!  So I figured we'd give it a go again this year.

I started with a 11 x13 frame I already had.  The glass had broken a while ago, but I knew that I'd find some crafty use for the frame eventually.  The only thing I had to buy was the cork board.  Since I had one of those awesome 40% off coupons, I headed over to Michael's and purchase a thick piece of cork board that fits perfectly in the frame.  So the total cost for this project ended up being $3.49! Makes me love it even more!

I wrote our activities written on THESE little tags so that after we've done one, we can pull it off the board and put it in our summer scrapbook with the pictures from that day.  Using my Cricut I made up some 2 x 3 inch tags from cardstock.
I stamped the bottom of the tag for some added cuteness.

I had some cute push pins in my stash.
(They were bought last year in the office section at Walmart.)

Do you do a summer bucket list?  If you've posted one on your blog, leave a comment with a link so we can check it out!

I think this is a great idea! Especially for families with young children, the tags will provide many memories of good times!

Cool idea! I love it. We're going to do this. I have the same problem every summer - the end comes and we've done nothing much. Thanks!

Awesome idea. I'm great at making to-do lists but lists are so Authority Figure-ish - like a mean mom wagging her finger at you telling you that you can't have dessert until you're done with your awful chores. Your board looks like such a fun way to watch your progress throughout summer.

We did something like this in December in the days leading up to Christmas, and my kids LOVED it. Even the oldest one who is becoming too cool for everything lately. Might have to revisit this idea for the summer!! Thanks for lighting the spark!

Oh you are SO right -- the summer just flies by (and the winter drags!) and I was JUST saying to my hubby last night that there are so many things I want to do this summer! We do have a wedding to plan for August so that's a big chunk of my time but I love this idea because it keeps your list front and center and we're more likely to actually DO these things! Thanks so much!

I really love this idea. summer passes by so quickly and sometimes I am left with feelings of disappointment over the things we didn't do. This would help keep the focus and priority on a little fun. The family that plays together stays together!

I LOVE this! I have been planning to write a list up of fun/free things to do with the kids this summer. I think they'd enjoy this display. Maybe I'll let them write their own tags... Thanks for sharing!
