Scrabble Tile Love

This is Quick and Sweet.

It comes from Melissa at 320 Sycamore and
Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick

I have it up for Valentines Day, but I really want to use it in the little guy's room.
After V-day I'll change out the paper and put it in his room.

Here's how...

1.  Pick out your paper and put it behind the glass in the frame.
2.  Hot glue your scrabble tiles of choice right on top of the glass.
That will make it easy to switch out the paper later.

I had everything on hand so this project was free.
My favorite kind.

Creating with Paint Swatches

When I saw this Paint Chip Valentine idea at Be Different Act Normal I was inspired to do something for Valentines with paint swatches.

They're so colorful.  Full of possibility.

This is what I came up with.

Ladybug helped make these cute book markers for her teachers.  This idea comes from Family Fun, but I used the paint swatches instead of paper.  This craft is a great way to use last years calendar, too!
For her preschool teachers we used the sunday thru saturday top of the calendar.

For other instructors that she sees on a specific day of the week, we used that day's column of the calendar.

Then I made some little matchbooks.
These are so fun.  I love a cute matchbook.
Just embellish the front cover with hearts, stamps, doilies, or yo-yos.  It makes a cute favor.

For the pages inside I used notebook paper and graph paper.

 My Favorite Little Valentines
Valentines 2010

How about some chalkboard hearts?

Last Fall I added bits of cork to lots of my projects.  In these winter months I've become obsessed with chalkboard.  Who knows what the spring will bring.

I've had these little Valentine heart ornaments for a few years.
I decided they needed a change!
I started with some primer.
Well, actually I tried to paint them without the primer first, but the paint just wouldn't stick without it.
Lesson learned.
After a coat of primer, I put on a couple coats of chalkboard paint.
After drying and a little doodling, here are the little cuties...
I like that I can put whatever messages I want on them.
Wouldn't it make a perfect little valentine for a teacher?!

I painted one white and added some mod podge and glitter...just to see how it would look.
I think I really like them this way too!
I think I'll be making some more glitter ones, too!

My Crafty Mom and Her Valentine Chair Backers

When I saw Valentine chair backers floating around last year I SO wanted some for the munchkins.
I can't sew.  My mom is a whiz on the machine.
So she kindly agreed to help me out. (by help I mean she did it all)
{I don't have tutorial on this, but if you do go ahead and post it in the comments.}
EDIT:  I found the tut we used!!  Here at Our Scoop

 Aren't they cute?
One for the little guy and one for the ladybug.
 Even the inside is cute!
 My mom is one crafty lady!  When we were little she made all our Halloween costumes.  My absolute favorite was Rainbow Brite.  She made baby blankets for my little guy and ladybug.  She even sewed goody bags for some of our parties! {Thanks again, mom!}

I'm not really a resolution making kind of girl (mostly because I never keep them).  But, this year I do have a goal to reach before December.  I am going to learn to sew.  I'm not going to be making clothes or bedspreads or anything...let's not reach for a miracle.  I just want to be able to sew a banner together and maybe a little sewing on my scrapbook pages. Just the little stuff.

{Putting this goal in print makes it official!}  ;-)
